SafeMeasures

We invite diverse groups of students and their teachers to become school climate leaders. Our scientifically based school climate surveys help teams examine school climate and culture through student, teacher and parent eyes.

  • We help schools initiate a two-year, data-driven action research process called SafeMeasuresTM. Our program has been used for over 20 years, in hundreds of schools across the country, to improve school climate, culture and learning.
  • Our scientifically-based, Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Process helps student and adult leadership teams work as partners to collect, analyze and apply school climate and culture data, “to see school climate through student, teacher, and parents’ eyes”.
  • After collecting data and learning about school climate and culture, teams use these data to set school improvement goals, create action plans, and initiate ‘sweet spot” action projects to drive school improvement and change.
  • Schools make a two-year commitment to implement and sustain this data-driven YPAR process. Year One focuses on school-wide data collection and action. In Year Two, we work to take this work to the classroom level.
  • We call this process The Safe Measures Process and it has been used successfully for over 20 years, in hundreds of schools across the US, to improve school climate, culture and learning.
